Services Provided by the Association

 Provision of Disposable Incontinence Products.
The Incontinent Pad Scheme (IPS) began in April 1992. This scheme is for all children between the ages of 3 and 16 years who are incontinent due to a permanent disability. Full details of the scheme, which is funded by the Lotteries Commission, are available in a separate leaflet on request.

 Family Support
Support (practical and emotional), information, social events and advocacy are provided and/or arranged for members.

 Family Camps
Are held annually at Point Peron for 10 days in summer and over the long weekend in June. The summer camp is part-funded by the Lotteries Commission and families pay a small daily fee to attend.

 Community Education
Includes an annual in-service for teachers at the beginning of each new school year. Spina Bifida Awareness Week is also conducted annually as part of a nationwide event.

 Library
Books, journals, video-cassettes and audio-cassetes are available on loan, free of charge, to members and other persons interested in obtaining further information about spina bifida.

 Tutoring
When funds are available assistance is provided to parents by way of subsidies for tutors' fees.

 Driving Lessons
As funds are available, assistance in the form of a subsidy for driving lessons is provided to members with spina bifida.

 Young adults programme
A special programme of activities is arranged for young adults with spina bifida, including camps, barbecues, etc. The programme is organised by a Young Adults Committee, which comprises members of the Association's Management Committee and the young adults themselves.

 Membership is open to any person interested in the welfare, education and happiness of those with spina bifida.
